‘Share The Love’ was an online competition asking participants to share their favourite party image. Participants then had to share and acquire votes from friends and family to win. The participant with the most votes would win a trip to the opposite side of the hemisphere (London or Brazil). A large scale campaign that crossed several platforms: The dating platform Facebook Twitter …View Post

Screen shots of some of the tweets, posts and images that worked. My favourite? Having the audience on the male site truly believe I was a guy.View Post
The second part of my interview with Lauren Bedford Russell. I feel the chemistry and warmth started to come up more towards the end – with general chitchat. The second half of my chat with Lauren Bedford Russell, we talk business, activism about her MS diagnosis and how you can get involved. Transcript: Mariella: Now there’s something really interesting about you …View Post
In the drive to get relevant content on our blog and grassroots SEO, I made contact with a PR agent in the USA that could help put me in touch with lesbian celebrities. This interview was recorded in the old GaydarRadio recording studios which made the audio much better quality than previous interviews. This also helped when it came time …View Post
This was a guest post for Signarama and their Signwriters Blog series: As I sit relaxing before the day of my second last event for 2011, there’s always that little niggly worry of What happens if my speaker/celebrity/headliner decides not to come…? A niggly fear, that Swisse would have made reality, earlier this week when their headliner, Kim Kardashian (rumoured …View Post
Piece I’m Most Proud Of…
This is some of the copywriting and communications work I did for the Victoria Employers Chamber of Commerce & Industry (VECCI) working under the umbrella of Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC). I wrote these pieces shortly after our beloved boss, mentor and friend passed away suddenly while on a holiday. I’m particularly proud of these pieces, not only because I …View Post

Particularly as the public perception is that the company doesn’t care for women or doesn’t contain any women. This was also my opportunity to set a new tone of voice for the site, which had …View Post
World’s Sexiest Man?
This was a PR and SEO link building exercise commissioned by Propellernet for Gaydar.net.
It generated quite a number of links through their successful digital PR sell-in. The most successful digital PR initiative I’ve seen to date.
Another post for Gaydar, this time focusing on the Corporate Social Responsibility work that Gaydar undertakes.
I’m one of four in the CSR committee, unfortunately I wasn’t involved at the start of the project but it’s still been great to see the results.
This copy is very much different to the copy I write for Gaydar, I changed the tone to a more corporate voice to show how important the community work we do is. And to be taken seriously for the partnerships we get involved in.View Post
If you’re not familiar with Jenny Biddle it’s because she’s a modest and understated musician.
Far from a self promoter, she believes in hard work so much so that she plays well over 200 gigs a year and suffers from chronic ‘guitar elbow’ from belting her suite of guitars (all who have names) on a daily basis.
An album review of Jenny Biddle’s new album for GaydarGirls.com – this post first appeared on March 6, 2013.
